This photo pair overlooks Horseshoe Lake (foreground), the Nenana River (midground), and the start of the Nenana Canyon. By the late 1970s construction of the George Parks Highway was complete, and entrepreneurs had begun to identify the value of the land near the park entrance. A new constructed lodge is visible in the earlier photo, and just out of view (blocked by a branch in the foreground) in the later photo. Notice the revegetation of the slope below the lodge. Notice also the changes to the lakeshore, especially paying attention to the deciduous shrubs at the forest edge in the later photo.
