Description:
This photo pair captures change occurring around an area known as "C-Camp." This camp housed 200 corps members and 12 supervisors of the Civilian Conservation Corps during the summers of 1938 and 1939. Each white canvas wall tent could house up to four people. Other structures included a shower house, infirmary, and dining hall - which is still standing today (type "dining" in the Search photo pairs box to view). C-Camp today houses seasonal workers for the National Park Service. Notice the realignment of the park road over Rock Creek, as well as the infilling of vegetation throughout this area.
