Glacial thinning and retreat
This photo pair features the edge of the Muldrow Glacier. Glacier Creek runs through the right half of the frame, joining the Thorofare River bar in the upper right. The glacier occupies the left half of both photos, even though by 2004, this glacial ice was vegetated. The lumpy surface of the glacier provides a constantly shifting surface, evident by the appearance and disappearance of melt ponds between the years captured in the two photos.
