These matched photos were taken from the air at high altitude 29 years apart. They show similarly bright fall color displays along the Park Road near the Teklanika Rest Stop. If you look closely, you can see evidence of increasing density of (dark-colored) white spruce trees in the 2005 photo relative to the 1976 photo, particularly in and around the drainage that bisects the road about midway up the frame. Note the darker green patches in this drainage feature and on the adjacent bench area that show establishment of white spruce in this area.
