This photo shows the large and interesting fen/wetland complex between Wonder Lake and the McKinley River. The McKinley Bar trail traverses the east end of this area. This photo was taken from a relatively high altitude, and from this height not a lot of changes are obvious between the two photos. However, it does appear that the stands of trees on the middle of the frame have become considerably larger over this interval of time. Lower altitude photographs of this area show significant establishment of trees and shrubs in areas formerly occupied by wet meadow vegetation.
