Shrinking ponds
This pair of photos shows a set of ponds on a plateau between Clearwater Creek and Turtle Hill in the western area of Denali near the Muddy River. There are some big differences evident in this photo pair - can you spot them? It looks like two small ponds have dried up completely in the second image that had plenty of water in the first image! These two small water bodies are on the right side of the image, above and below the large pond. What might have caused this change to have occurred? Is it necessarily a permanent change, or might it be reversible? What evidence suggests that this change may have occurred awhile ago?
