Description:
This photo pair shows two views of the south-facing slopes above the West Fork of the Chulitna River, upstream and across the river from the mouth of Blind Creek. Because of the differing state of the vegetation (fall colors in early photo, summer green in the recent photo) it is difficult to discern any differences between the two images. However, because this photo pair captures a nice south-facing treeline gradient, it is an excellent candidate for future missions to re-photograph our sites. Research occurring elsewhere in Denali National Park and Preserve and other subarctic areas tells us to expect to see trees expanding upslope in the future.
