This photo pair was taken from the Riley Creek railroad trestle looking north towards Mt. Healy. The large building that the railroad tracks appear to point towards is the recently completed McKinley Park Hotel and the current site of the parking lot north of the Denali Visitor Center. Notice the lack of trees in the earlier photo, many of which had been sacrificed for the construction of the building you see there, or for use as wood heat in the cabins of those early pioneers that stayed throughout the cold winters.
