Description:
This pair of photos was taken from the air looking northwest towards the Park Road and the lower southeast-facing slopes of Mt. Margaret. The Savage R. entrance station is located just off the right edge of the photo. A conspicuous feature visible in this pair of photos is the reduction in open gravel bar deposits flanking the Savage River due to vegetation colonization in these areas. In particular, note the areas adjacent to the confluence with the small tributary stream entering from the left near the middle of the frame. These areas were open gravels in 1976 that showed considerable vegetation establishment over the period.
