This view of the Wonder Lake Ranger Station and administrative site shows quite a bit of change over 49 years! New buildings were added behind the ranger station, the Park Road was widened, and a weather station installed between 1963 and 2012. Also during this time, shrubs expanded into the open tundra, spruce expanded into the open shrublands, spruce forests became denser, and willows and poplar grew up in the disturbed soils along the roadside. What will another 50 years bring to this area?
